Noe Valley Faces: Wendy Cohen

After nearly 10 years as coordinator of the senior lunch program operated by Project Open Hand at the Noe Valley Ministry, Wendy Cohen is still enjoying herself. "I can be myself here--it's a comfortable environment," says Cohen, who comes in each weekday from her home in Daly City to dispense hot food and lively conversation at the noontime program. Cohen is a natural at spreading warmth. She makes sure to point out that the senior center, at 1021 Sanchez, is open to all, no matter what their circumstances (10 to 2 Monday through Thursday, 11 to 3 on Friday). To Cohen, this is where old friends are made. "We laugh a lot around here. We have a good time. We try to make it a place people want to come."
