November 2009

Coffeehouse regular Luke Talltree was not the only fan eager to pose with Bernie's Cafe owner Bernie Melvin during a "Carrotmob" at her store on 24th Street Oct. 18. Hundreds came to crowd the store and applaud Melvin's pledge to spend 40 percent of the day's sales "going greener." Talltree probably didn't need the carrot, which was dangled by SF.carrotmob.org (and hosted by Rebecca Prozan). "Bernie's is such a jewel for the neighborhood, a great nice welcoming place to come," he said.
