REPORT FROM MISSION STATION

Mission Police Officer Steven Keith offers this month’s tally of incidents occurring in the northern half of Noe Valley—the area loosely bordered by Grand View, 20th, Guerrero, and Cesar Chavez streets. The log covers most but not all incidents recorded at Mission Station from Jan. 1 to 31, 2012. Jan. 4, 3:40 p.m., 1300 block of Castro, Pickpocket: An elderly man was boarding Muni when he was jostled by a man in the stairwell of the bus. The victim later discovered his wallet was missing. #120013066

Jan. 10 at 9 p.m. to Jan. 11 at 1 p.m., 3600 block of 22nd, Stolen Truck: A 1992 Subaru was reported stolen and later recovered on the 3600 block of 24th. #120029342

Jan. 11, 3:15 p.m., 4000 block of 24th, Shoplifting: A man and a woman entered a store and made off with approximately $1,500 in clothing. The suspects were described as a bald African-American woman between 34 and 39, standing 5’10”, weighing 140 pounds, and an African-American man of unknown age, standing 5’10”, weighing 160 pounds, wearing a long wig. #120029405

Jan. 13, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., 22nd & Castro, Stolen Car: A 1999 Acura was reported stolen and was later recovered on Jan. 24, on the 1300 block of Noe. #120036745

Jan. 15, 5 a.m. to 12:35 p.m., 3600 block of Cesar Chavez, Arson and Graffiti: A recycling bin was set afire and graffiti was found nearby. #120041120

Jan. 16, 9:45 p.m., 4400 block of 20th, Robbery:  The victim was tackled from behind after the suspect passed by. A cell phone and cash were taken before the suspect fled in a gray vehicle, south on Douglass. The suspect was described as an African-American man between 35 and 40, 5’10”, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. #120044594

Jan. 9 at 12 p.m. to Jan 17 at 11 a.m., 700 block of Castro, Stolen Car: A 1999 Ford was reported stolen. It was recovered Jan. 19 on the 700 block of Geary. #120045724

Jan. 18, 9 p.m., 3700 block of 25th, Vehicle Tampering: An alert resident responded to the sound of glass breaking and saw a suspect inside a 2006 Chevy Tahoe. The suspect was described as an African-American man between 20 and 30, standing 5’8”, weighing 165 pounds, wearing a dark colored hoodie and baggy blue jeans. He was last seen fleeing east on 25th with a black suitcase on wheels. #120050278

Jan. 18 at 9 p.m. to Jan. 19 at 3:30 p.m., 3700 block of 25th, Stolen Car: A 1994 Honda was reported stolen and later recovered on Feb. 10, on the 400 block of Day. #120052092

Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. to Jan. 20 at 9:45 a.m., 1100 block of Church, Stolen Car: A 1994 Honda was reported stolen and later recovered on Jan. 26, on the 900 block of Huron. #120054167

Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. to Jan. 21 at 9 a.m., 400 block of Fair Oaks, Burglary: The basement door was pried open and a mountain bike was torn from the shelf it had been locked to. #120057763

Jan. 11 at 10 p.m. to Jan. 22 at 10 p.m., 800 block of Sanchez, Stolen Car: A 1986 Toyota was reported stolen and later recovered on Jan. 29, on the 100 block of Blythedale. #120061065

Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. to Jan. 23 at 8:30 a.m., 3900 block of 22nd, Burglary: A bicycle was taken from a detached garage that may have been left unsecured. #120063516

Jan. 25, 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1300 block of Guerrero, Burglary: Several thousand dollars in jewelry was taken from an apartment. The front gate and entry door was pried open. #120068748

Jan. 25, 10:50 a.m., 400 block of Alvarado, Hot Prowl Burglary: A victim confronted an intruder in the living room holding a stolen laptop. The suspect quickly grabbed more property and fled the house. Responding officers apprehended the suspect, still in possession of the stolen property, near 23rd and Chattanooga. The property was returned and the suspect booked into county jail. #120068033

Jan. 28, 2:15 p.m., 4000 block of 24th, Shoplifting: A suspect grabbed several articles of clothing and fled the store in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a white woman between 30 and 40, standing 5’10”, weighing 150 pounds, curly brown hair, with a “labret” face-piercing, a cabbie hat, and dark jeans. The store believes the suspect has stolen from them in the past.

The Ingleside police blotter covers incidents reported Jan. 1 to 31, 2012, in the area bordered by ­Cesar Chavez, Guerrero, 30th, and Diamond streets. The incidents were culled from newsletters produced by staff at Ingle­side Police Station. Most but not all incidents are included here. Jan. 4, 10:51 a.m., 1600 block of Sanchez, Recovered Vehicle

Jan. 4, 5:20 p.m., 100 block of 29th, Recovered Vehicle

Jan. 7, 11 a.m., 100 block of Day, Stolen Vehicle

Jan. 8, 9 a.m., 400 block of Valley, Fraud: Officers Naval and Chew were dispatched to investigate fraudulent credit card charges. The victim told them she had received text messages from her credit card company that alerted her to charges being made to her account in different countries. The victim still had the card in her possession and was advised to contact the credit card company. #120020572

Jan. 8, 4 p.m., 1700 block of Dolores St., Theft: Officer Coles was dispatched to investigate a theft at a residence. The victim told the officer that his bike had been stolen from inside an unlocked garage. There were no surveillance cameras and no witnesses found. The victim was advised to secure the door with a deadbolt. He was also given follow-up information. #120022653

Jan. 15, 5 p.m., 300 block of Duncan, Theft: Police Services Aide Zabarte was on duty at Ingleside Station when a victim came in to report a theft. The victim stated he had parked his vehicle and upon returning discovered that his catalytic converter had been stolen.

Jan. 15, 8:15 a.m., Castro & 27th, Traffic Collision

Jan. 18, 7:30 p.m., Church & Sanchez, Warrant: Officers Hom and Cassinelli were dispatched to a report of a robbery. The officers contacted the victim, who told them that the suspect had grabbed her cell phone from her hand and fled. Officer Preston ­arrived on scene and located a suspect matching the description provided by the victim. The suspect, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants, was arrested. #120050165

Jan. 18, 7:32 p.m., 30th & Sanchez, Robbery: Officers Cassinelli and Hom were dispatched to a report of a robbery. The victim said she was on a Muni bus reading something on her phone with her head down. The bus came to a stop and the rear doors opened. The suspect grabbed the victim’s phone and fled off the bus. #120049970

Jan. 19, 5:15 p.m., Dolores & Day, Vehicle Accident

Jan. 24, 9:10 p.m., 100 block of 30th, Theft: Officer Dominguez was dispatched to a call of a theft. The victim parked her vehicle in her apartment’s parking garage with both windows rolled down. When she returned to her vehicle, she realized several of her personal items were missing from inside the car. #120066861

Jan. 24, 4:11 p.m., 600 block of 28th, Recovered Vehicle

Jan. 24, 7:25 p.m., Noe & Cesar Chavez, Recovered Vehicle

Jan. 25, 12:30 p.m., first block of 29th, Theft: Officers Lim and Chew were dispatched to investigate a theft. The officers met with the victim and were informed that the victim’s cell phone had been stolen. The victim knew who had stolen it and had video surveillance to prove it. The victim had contacted the suspect and requested the phone back, but the suspect allegedly informed the victim he had sold it. The video surveillance footage could not be obtained at that time from the manager. The reportee was given follow-up information. #120065192

Jan. 31, 12:01 a.m., 800 block of San Jose Ave., Vandalism: Officer Chew responded to a report of vandalism. The victim’s vehicle had been vandalized with graffiti.

Police Borders

Noe Valley is shared by two San Francisco police jurisdictions—Mission Police District and Ingleside Police District—with Cesar Chavez Street as the dividing line. Mission Station covers the northern half of the neighborhood, while Ingleside patrols the southern half. Both districts invite citizens to attend community meetings, held monthly. Mission Police District holds meetings on the last Tuesday of the month, 6 p.m., at Mission Station, 630 Valencia St. Ingleside’s community meetings are on the third Tuesday of the month, 7 p.m., at Ingleside Station, 1 Sgt. John V. Young Lane.
